  1. EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE

Candidates, examination officials, and other persons are increasingly yielding to the temptation to do exam malpractice examinations.

Cheating in examinations is a criminal act punishable in the law. The Examination Malpractices Decree 1999 provides excess punishment for persons convicted of exam malpractice.

Penalties provided include imprisonment for about 3-5 years or a fine of N50,000. These are the following acts considered as criminal acts in the exams hall.

Cheating, use of electronic gadgets, impersonation, collusion with others with the intent to cheat, disturbance during examinations, unlawful behavior in the course of an examination, failure to obey the orders of supervisors, or agents of the examination body, forgery of a result, breach of duty, conspiracy, aiding, multiple application, etc.

  1. EXAMINATION STRUCTURE

The UTME is so conducted once a year in the computer-based test mode as usual.

The test is always a two-hour multiple-choice in four subjects, with a compulsory paper _ the Use of English and the other three subjects of a candidate’s choice.

Prospective candidates are hereby advised to seek the advice of their teachers, parents/guardians, or the career counselors in their choice of elective subjects for the UTME examinations.
